Our Worship

There is nothing more important than the worship of the one true and living God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We have been created to bow down before our Maker and render unto Him supreme praise and adoration.

While we are to worship God privately and in our families regularly, God calls us to worship Him uniquely as His gathered Church on the first day of the week, the Lord’s Day. Our great God has set apart this day for His glory and our good. On this day God has promised to meet with His gathered Church in a special way to hear our prayers, receive our praises, and speak to us through the reading and preaching of His Word.

As we meet with our God in worship we are reminded of His holiness, His power, His truth, His love, His salvation, His grace, His mercy, His forgiveness, His sovereignty, and His claim upon us. We recognize that we cannot worship God or be accepted by Him apart from Jesus Christ dying for our sins and being raised from the dead on the third day. Thus our God both calls us and enables us to put our faith in Jesus Christ alone and to repent from our sin.

Holy BibleSecond Parish therefore gathers with anticipation and expectation for public worship each Lord’s Day. We begin the day with worship at 11:00 a.m. and we close the day with worship at 6:00 p.m. On the third Sunday of each month we have a modified schedule which includes a “pitch-in” luncheon after the morning worship. This is followed by an early afternoon joint worship service with our Sudanese Fellowship.

We believe you will find the worship of God here to be reverent, joyful, and God-centered. You will find Christ exalted and the Word of God defining everything we do. For “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God” as it is faithfully preached (Romans 10:14-17).
